Auditions – Are You Being Served?

Auditions will be held at the theatre on

Saturday Feb 16 and Saturday Feb 23 between 12 noon and 3pm.

These will be open auditions and groups workshopped on the day.

Mr Grainger 40-year veteran of Grace Brothers, a senior sales assistant and head of the gents’ department, who often falls asleep on the job, is usually grumpy, and wears a measuring tape over his shoulders.

Mr Mash the stock and maintenance man who installed mechanised display units in store and was often scolded by Captain Peacock for being on the floor during opening hours.

Mr Rumbold the autocratic, obsequious (to the Grace brothers), yet bumbling and incompetent floor manager.

Mr Lucas the young, penniless, womanising junior salesman; a source of irritation to the female sales staff. Always referred to as the department ‘junior’, but Bannister was in fact one year older than Inman. 

Miss Brahms a young, attractive, working-class, cockney-speaking junior sales assistant to Mrs Slocombe.

Captain Peacock  the haughty floorwalker (an employee who both supervises sales staff and assists customers) who purportedly fought in the North Africa Campaign of World War II but was accused of actually being in the Service Corps and never seeing combat.

Mrs Slocombe a senior sales assistant and head of the ladies’ department. She is known for her changing hair colour and conversations about her cat, which she always refers to as her “pussy”.

Mr Humphries a sales assistant in gents’; a campy-acting man who lives with his mother. He made frequent use of double entendre, especially related to his presumed gay lifestyle.

Lady Customer / Double Teresa  20s to 30s very good looking female small part Act one and then doubles as resistance fighter .

Male Customer / Double as Don Bernardo 20s to 30s good looking male small part act 1 then is hotel manager act 2 show much bravado.

Cesar male role small in act 2 plays off Don Bernardo as resistance fighter.

Nurse / doubling Conchita 20s to 30s very good looking female has small part in Act 1 then double as assistant to hotel owner.

Mr Grace the very old, rich but stingy store owner, surrounded by attractive young women.

The Action takes place in the Grace Brothers store and then goes onto a holiday in Spain for Act 2 very sexist play which will bring the house down.
