Gender Swap
Back at the Hub Studios!
n this exciting lab performance, our Gap II students explore the always-intriguing idea of gender swapping. This allows them to explore themes, ideas and given circumstances they may have never thought of before.
The exercise demands students make strong choices, and determine whether the gender of the character changes along with that of the actor, or to what extent the text requires rewriting. This is especially exciting with the more modern texts, where the best dramatists are gender-specific in psychology and vocabulary.
What happens when Othello is played by a woman? Would Iago then need to be also?
Followed by a self-devised piece, “The Preventable Case of Benjamin Dumpster”
So, this Sunday 11th October at 5pm, we warmly invite you to come along to the Hub Studios, and spend an hour or two supporting your local actors.
And don’t forget to book your tickets for our upcoming production, “Flora”, next week. |
