Take three talented actors, a new theatre company, and some tight direction.
Add one mouth-watering script, an original and spicy take on the love-triangle scenario.
Mix in some pitch-black humour and serve with a generous helping of acerbic wit.
And there you have it—the basic ingredients of Debbie Issit’s The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband, the dish being served up by Much Productions at the Mid-Century Café and Collectables in Yokine for six performances from 15th July 2021.
Directed by the award-winning Jane Sherwood, this darkly funny adult comedy gives a highly-entertaining exploration of jealousy, humiliation, deceit and betrayal.
Kenneth (Jarrod Buttery) finds himself in the arms of Laura (Phoebe Deklerk) after 20 years of marriage to the culinary-talented Hilary (Meredith Hunter). The only trouble is, Laura can’t cook and soon Kenneth is mourning the loss of Sunday roasts, haute cuisine, and the comforts of a settled life. When Hilary invites Kenneth and Laura over for dinner together, he readily accepts—unaware of what delicacies Hilary has on the menu!
The old adage “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” takes on an entirely new meaning with this wickedly black comedy.
The Mid-Century Café and Collectables will be serving drinks and offer the option of a 2-course meal with several choices. The menu will be dependent on fresh produce at the time. If you prefer, get a ticket for the show and purchase your drinks and cakes on the night.
