MEAT
by Gillian Greer

Butcher’s blade sharp . . .  and cut very close to the bone.

“We can’t guarantee your comfort . . . but we can assure you this will be an experience.” – Jo

Set in the fanciest new restaurant of the Dublin culinary scene, this ‘happy to offend’ new chef-shop encapsulates & successfully commodifies our new age of soft-egos and greedy appetites.

Ronan and Maxine eat and drink themselves seriously silly. Until they’re fit to bursting. It’s a competitive, compulsive co-consumption. Culminating in more than just indigestion.

In an explosion of food, feeling pain and passion, MEAT wrestles with just how difficult the unravelling of a relationship and our pasts can be, in a way that only a 2020s written play may.

Over the course of one wine-soaked evening, old wounds are exposed and new truths served up, while the pair and their affable attendant Jo unpack a full guts worth.

If the first course is a the digging up of a savage shared history, what’s for dessert?

Unavoidably funny, charming and disarming – and Irish to the bone! Heart-warmingly true, ambitious and dead willing to muck into the tough stuff – as a good show always should.

You are cordially invited to a night at the theatre that is bound to leave a bad taste in your mouth . . . in the most delicious way!
