Contact me at allend@westnet.com.au if you want to attend a workshop and we will work out when to run the workshops. The only charge is a gold coin donation for tea or coffee. Bring a thumb drive if you want a copy of notes, handbooks etc relevant to the workshop. You need to wear enclosed shoes. Let me know which of the following workshops you want to attend so I can work out a suitable timetable. We are looking for operators for the music hall season so you can get some practical experience with a mentor.
Stage Lighting for Community Theatre Committees.
This session gives an overview of theatre lighting so committee members can have a tour of the Garrick Theatre, which is in the process of being set up for the end-of-year production which is Bernie’s Old Tyme Music Hall directed by Kerry Goode. The Garrick Theatre has a selection of conventional and LED stage lighting, two 12-channel dimmer racks, a 12-channel power distribution rack, MiDi triggered relays for automation of stage curtain, intermission chimes, projector shutter and lighting desk playback step. The lighting desk is a Zero88 FLX S48 with a 24” touchscreen monitor. The sound mixer is a rack-mount Behringer X32. Show control is a pc running SCS11 which controls audio and video playback. Geoff Holt has integrated all of these systems so one operator can control easily them. Come and find out why you should not throw out all of your old theatre lights as you start your upgrade to LED theatre lights. This information session runs for an hour if needed.
Introduction to Stage Lighting
This workshop starts with looking at the properties of light http://www.theatrelightingworkshops.com/properties-of…/ then covers stage safety, regulations, objectives of stage lighting, luminaires, lighting control, colour, script analysis, lighting plans, rigging, and focusing. These workshops take at least four hours, with breaks.
Son Et Lumiere
If there is enough participants, for those that want a challenge, a Son et Lumiere is a presentation of stage lighting, programmed to complement a piece of music or song. I will add extra movers to the rig for these workshops, but they have to be removed before the music hall starts. It takes several hours to program the lighting for a 2-minute music track. These workshops can be run on Thursday or Friday nights or slotted in with Saturday or Sunday theatre availability.
