Audition: Through These Lines

Synopsis
From Gallipoli to the Western Front – Australia’s trained nurses were there. Follow Sister Florence Whiting on her 4 year journey, from departure on the troopship Kyarra to tours of duty in Egypt, Lemnos and France.

Flo and her fellow nursing sisters are outnumbered and out of their element, their skill dismissed by senior officers. Against a backdrop of lantern-lit wards, bright Mediterranean skies and busy, muddy fields, we see Flo fight to find her place.

Based on meticulous research, Through These Lines is an honest account of women in war. There is humour, anger, hope, sadness and frustration. But most of all there is courage – Flo sees her task through to the end.

‘Through These Lines’ is written by Cheryl Ward and directed by Michelle Ezzy for Darlington Theatre Players. It is an unpaid community theatre production.

When: 30 minute slots between 10am – 3pm, Saturday 3 December
Where: Marloo Theatre, 20 Marloo Rd, Greenmount WA 6056.
Note: If call backs are required they will take place on Sunday 4 December at 1pm.

CHARACTERS
Actor 1 is the only role that plays one character throughout the play. All other actors play various other roles and some require strong accent ability. All roles are open to actors of any ethnicity. Ages of actors are very flexible. Further detail available in the audition pack.

Actor 1 Sister Florence Whiting: female identifying, 18 – 35
Actor 2 female identifying, 20 – 50
Actor 3 female identifying, 25 – 50
Actor 4 male identifying, 20 – 40
Actor 5 male identifying, 20 – 40
Actor 6 male identifying, 20 – 40

This play involves intimacy and fight choreography for some characters. Specific requirements are outlined in the audition pack.
