Auditionees should prepare a short monologue and be prepared to read cold from the script.

SYNOPSYS:
Dubbed as one of the world’s scariest plays, Harbour Theatre will present the thrilling murder mystery THE GHOST TRAIN for their 5th and final season for 2019.

THE GHOST TRAIN tells the tale of a group of hapless passengers stranded for the night in a remote and haunted Cornish railway station in 1920’s England.

Written in 1923 by Arnold Ridley (famous for playing the doddery Godfrey in DAD’S ARMY) THE GHOST TRAIN is regarded as a modern minor classic.

CHARACTERS: ( NB: stage ages only )
MISS BOURNE : severe spinster type woman 40s-50s, comedic character travelling alone with a parrot in a cage.

JULIA PRICE : attractive, late 20’s, very emotional character and more to her than meets the eye.

ELSIE WINTHROP : 20’s – 30’s, unhappily married to Richard Winthrop. Well-to-do cultured British accent.

RICHARD WINTHROP : 30’s well to do British accent, argues with his wife Elsie. This couple are not getting along.

CHARLES MURDOCH : 30’s married to Peggy. Cultured British accent, honeymoon couple.

PEGGY MURDOCH : young bride 20’s.

TEDDIE DEAKIN : 30’s – 40’s. A silly ass. Foppish Englishman who wears loud clothes of the era. This is a large role.

SAUL HODGKIN ; Stationmaster, 50’s. West Country accent. This role requires an actor with strong storytelling and suspense building skills.

HERBERT PRICE : 50’s, also not what he seems. Dual character role.

JOHN STERLING : well set up man in his 40’s – 50’s

JACKSON : stocky man about 55.

TWO OFFICERS : small roles, any age.

SEASON DATES:
5th to 15th December 2019 (10 performances total), including matinees’ on Sunday 8th & Sunday 15th December at 2:00pm, and a Charity Performance on Thursday 5th December.
Rehearsals will commence in early October 2019.
