AUDITION SATURDAY 29 JUNE @ 2.00 PM AT KADS THEATRE

THE AUTERRA IN CELL 19: A one-act play by James Forte, directed by James Forte
(This play will be one of three performed at the KADS “Thrills & Chills” One Act Festival)
Genre: Psychological horror
Roles: 2 or 3 male, 1 or 2 female:

• GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL: either male or female, over 30.
• HARRY WALTON: (male) an easy-going 20-year-old electrician who has just completed his apprenticeship. He has been married for two months.
• MYFANWY WALTON: (female) also about 20, Harry’s wife. She is a nurse in a children’s hospital.
• PROFESSOR PAUL RANCE: (male) somewhere around 30. He is an expert on artificial intelligence systems.

Synopsis: A tragedy about technology and torment. What happens when innocent young people make contact with machines designed to fight the complex and brutal battle against terrorism? When actions are no longer classed as legal or illegal but are outside any framework of laws or morality? In this short tale we observe the impact of the use of such a technology, available right now and possibly already in use… somewhere in the world. Run time: 45 minutes.

Season Dates: Fri Aug 30, Sat 31 Aug, Fri 6 Sept, Sat 7 Sept 2019 (4 performances, plus possibly one extra at the Hills Theatre Festival with date TBA)
