GRADS is seeking auditionees for its upcoming pantomime – Dick Whittington directed by Stephen Lee running at the New Fortune Theatre (UWA) from November 17 to December 3! The cast of characters is set out below (all playing ages are approximate – just use your judgement)
All auditions will be at Arts Lecture Room 4 (map here – https://studentvip.com.au/uwa/main/maps/116631) in the Arts Building at UWA.
Auditionees are asked to prepare a 2 minute long learned monologue and a song. Songs can be a cappella or accompanying music can be brought on auditionees phone or a thumb drive.
CHARACTERS
Sarah the Cook (male, any age, singing essential) Typical Dame, loud and brash but likeable and approachable.
Fairy of the Bells (female, male, any age, singing not essential) Glamorous or (if older) regal, needs to do decent London/Cockney accent.
King Rat (m/f, any age, singing essential) Slimy and evil. Think 1920s gangster.
Dick (female, 20s, singing essential) Our hero. Principal boy, upright and stalwart. Must be ok showing off legs.
Alice (female, 20s, singing essential) Compared to Barbie in script. Unlikely to win a Nobel Prize anytime soon.
Alderman (male, 40s-60s, singing not essential) A grumpy mean old fart. Alice’s dad.
Tommy the cat (m/f, any age, singing not essential) Cynical and sarcastic. Considers humans as somehow beneath him, like most cats.
Idle Jack (m/f, any age, singing not essential) Lazy and lethargic. Yet charmingly uncaring.
Blackbeard (male, 40s, singing essential) A Pirate. Think Long John Silver (with accent). A white beard (we can stick one on).
First Mate (m/f, any age, signging not essential) Also a pirate yet speaks with upper class British accent. Intellectual type.
Chief (m/f, any age, singing not essential) Head of Native American tribe. Pompous and sadistic.
Medicine Man (m/f, any age, singing not essential) Like the chief but with less dignity and funnier.
